3410. HYDRILLA

State Interior Quarantine

A quarantine is established against the following pest, its hosts, and possible carriers:

A. Pest. Hydrilla, Hydrilla verticillata, an aquatic weed that can, by its thick growth, restrict water flow and make recreational lakes and ponds unusable. It is a monocotyledonous plant of the family Hydrocharitaceae.

B. Area Under Quarantine. Any body of water including lake, river, stream, canal, or pond, declared by the Secretary to be infested with hydrilla. (See Appendix A.)

C. Articles and Commodities Covered.

1. Commodities Covered. Hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata) plants or parts of plants capable of growing, including parts of stems, tubers, and turions.

2. Articles Covered. Any products, articles, implements, conveyances (including boats), or any appliance capable of transporting viable plant parts from the area under quarantine.

D. Restrictions.

1. Movement of Commodities Covered Prohibited. The movement of commodities covered is prohibited from the area under quarantine.

2. Movement of Articles Covered. All articles covered may be restricted from access to water infested with hydrilla. In addition, said articles may be restricted movement from water infested with hydrilla.

The following areas are declared to be infested and are under quarantine for hydrilla:

1. Imperial County: Beginning at the intersection of State Highway 86 and San Felipe Creek; then, northeasterly along San Felipe Creek to its intersection with the shore of the Salton Sea; then, southeasterly, easterly, and northeasterly along said shore to its intersection with Alamo River; then, southerly along the Alamo River to its intersection with E. Keystone Road; then, westerly along E. Keystone Road to its intersection with McConnell Road; then, southerly along McConnell Road to its intersection with Keystone Road; then, westerly along Keystone Road to its intersection with Austin Road; then, southerly along Austin Road to its intersection with Jasper Road; then, southeasterly along Jasper Road to its intersection with S. La Brucherie Road; then, southerly and southwesterly along S. La Brucherie Road to its intersection with La Brucherie Road; then, southwesterly and southerly along La Brucherie Road to its intersection with Ferrell Road; then, southerly along Ferrell Road to its most southern point; then southerly along an imaginary line to its intersection with the U. S. and Mexico International Border; then, westerly along said international border to its intersection with the Westside Main Canal; then, northwesterly, northerly and northeasterly along the Westside Main Canal to its intersection with the Fillaree Canal; then, northeasterly along the Fillaree Canal to its intersection with Pierle Road; then, southerly along Pierle Road to its intersection with Edgar Road; then, easterly along Edgar Road to its intersection with Thistle Canal; then, northwesterly along the Thistle Canal to its intersection with the Thistle Lateral 8; then, northerly along the Thistle Lateral 8 to its intersection with the Trifolium Extension; then, northwesterly along the Trifolium Extension to its intersection with State Highway 86; then, northwesterly along State Highway 86 to the point of beginning.

2. Lake County: Clear Lake.

3. Yuba County: Several ponds and irrigation ditches in the Oregon House area. (Contact the Yuba County Agricultural Commissioner's Office for details.)

4. Nevada County: Grass Valley Area
