Olive Fruit Fly (OLFF) Orange County Garden Grove A male OLFF was found on December 2, 1998, in a McPhail trap that was placed in a persimmon tree along Groveview Street. The find is approximately 30 miles from the Los Angeles County OLFF finds (PD108-98). The McPhail trap density in the area was five traps per square
mile. Olive fruit fly does not respond to cuelure or methyl eugenol.
CDFA has increased the McPhail trap density, as needed, to 80
traps per square mile in the core square mile and 40 McPhail
traps per square mile in the eight adjacent square miles. In
addition, AM panel traps have been deployed at the same density
as the McPhail traps within the delimitation trapping area.
