Mediterranean Fruit Fly (Medfly)

One mated female Medfly was trapped on November 19, 1998, within the Preventative Sterile Medfly Release area. The fly was found in a McPhail trap that was set along Sycamore Street in a guava.

The McPhail and Jackson/trimedlure trap densities in the area was five traps per square mile.

CDFA trapper Jose Ramirez and USDA I.D. sorter Jose Caal are credited with finding the Medfly.

CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
