Africanized Honey Bee

Baker

AHB was found in Baker on November 6, 1998. The bees were collected from a water meter box by County Vector Control personnel. The find is outside the AHB colonized area and it will be expanded to include the new find.

The new AHB colonized area is 32,310 square miles and includes all of Imperial County and parts of Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.

CDFA Insect Biosystematist Tom Eichlin confirmed the determination based on mtDNA analysis performed by Scott Kinnee.
