Oriental Fruit Fly (OFF)

An unmated female OFF was found on October 27, 1998, in a McPhail trap placed in a lemon tree at a residence along Bluejay.

The trap density at the time of the find was five Jackson/methyl eugenol and five McPhail traps per square mile.

In response CDFA will increase the Jackson/methyl eugenol and McPhail trap densities to 25 in the core square mile.

CDFA trapper and I.D. sorter Enrique Medrano and Yesenia Miramontes are credited with finding the fly.

CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
