Mexican Fruit Fly (MxFF)

A male Mexican fruit fly was trapped on October 14, 1998, at a site along Frances Drive. The MxFF was found in a McPhail trap that was placed in a sapote. San Diego County trapper Robert DeLuval is credited with finding the fly.

In response, the McPhail trap density will be increased as needed to 80 traps in the core square mile and 40 traps in the eight square miles surrounding it.

CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
