Oriental Fruit Fly (OFF) Los Angeles County El Segundo While servicing Jackson/methyl eugenol traps near Los Angeles International Airport on September 24, 1998, Los Angeles County trapper Fayek Girgis found a male OFF. The trap was placed in a shade tree along Bungalow Drive. The trap density in the area was five Jackson/methyl eugenol and five McPhail traps per square mile. In response, CDFA will raise the Jackson/methyl eugenol and McPhail trap densities to protocol levels of 25 traps per square mile in the core square mile around the find. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
