Guava Fruit Fly (GFF) San Mateo County San Mateo San Mateo County trapper Renald Toruno discovered a male GFF while servicing traps along Fairmont Drive. The GFF was found on September 2, 1998, in a Jackson/methyl eugenol trap placed in a pear tree. The trap density was 5 Jackson/methyl eugenol and 5 McPhail traps per square mile. In response, San Mateo County Department of Agriculture will raise the Jackson/methyl eugenol and McPhail trap densities to 25 traps per square mile in the core square mile around the find. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Eric Fisher made the determination.
