Japanese Beetle (JB) Alameda County Oakland While inspecting a Federal Express aircraft at Oakland International Airport on August 5, 1998, CDFA inspector Andrew Mason found one dead female JB. The flight was from Columbus, OH. CDFA inspector Paul Grazzini found another dead female JB on August 11 at the same airport. This JB was also found on board Federal Express aircraft originating in Columbus. Los Angeles County Los Angeles On July 29, CDFA inspector Rick Sauber discovered one dead female JB aboard a TWA aircraft at Los Angeles International Airport. The flight had originated from St. Louis, MO. San Mateo County San Bruno CDFA inspector Robert Blackiston found one dead female JB on board a USPS aircraft that originated from Indianapolis, IN. The JB was found on August 4 at San Francisco International Airport. Santa Clara County San Jose One dead male JB was found on August 5, 1998, by CDFA inspector Andrew De Borba. The JB was found on board a UPS aircraft that originated from Des Moines, IA and had landed at San Jose International Airport. The next day at the same airport, CDFA inspector Lydia Fox found one dead female JB on Federal Express aircraft originating in Memphis, TN. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Terry Seeno made the determinations.
