Japanese Beetle (JB)
Los Angeles County
Lakewood
One female JB was detected in a JB trap along Carson Street
on August 12 by Los Angeles County trapper Robert Wieder. The
trap was placed on turf at the Lakewood Country Club golf course.
The Japanese beetle trap density in the area was two traps per
square mile. Additional JB traps had been placed at the golf
course and the beetle was found in one of those traps.
In response to the find, Los Angeles County and CDFA will
increase the trap density to 50 JB traps in the core square mile
with a 20 - 5 - 5 JB traps per square mile array around core.
CDFA Insect Biosystematist Terry Seeno made the determination.
