Guava Fruit Fly (GFF) Los Angeles County Los Angeles On July 23, Los Angeles County trapper Joaquin Carrera found one male GFF in a Jackson/methyl eugenol trap. The trap was placed in a fig tree along West 8th Street. The trap density was 5 Jackson/methyl eugenol and 5 McPhail traps per square mile. In response, CDFA will raise the Jackson/methyl eugenol and McPhail trap densities to 25 traps per square mile in the core area. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
