Japanese Beetle (JB) Alameda County Oakland While inspecting Japanese Beetle traps on July 21, Alameda County trappers Ashenasi Tadesse and Carmen Franke found one dead adult male JB at Oakland International Airport. The JB was found in a trap placed outside the Federal Express building in the airport operations area. The Japanese Beetle trap density in the area is 50 traps per square mile. In response to the find, Alameda County Department of Agriculture will place four more JB traps in the area right around the find. Due to the density of high risk traps already in place, no additional traps will be placed outside the immediate area of the find at this time. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Terry Seeno made the determination.
