Mexican Fruit Fly (MxFF) San Diego County El Cajon On July 20, San Diego County trapper Joy Murray-Roseberry found four wild Mexican Fruit Flies in a McPhail trap along Bermuda Lane. Among the finds were one sexually mature male, one sexually immature male, and two sexually immature females, both unmated. The trap was placed in a plum tree. The trap density was ten McPhail traps per square mile. In response, CDFA will increase the McPhail trap density to 80 traps per square mile in the core, and 40 traps per square mile in the surrounding eight square miles. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
