Japanese Beetle (JB) Alameda County Oakland One dead female JB was found by CDFA inspector Craig Faria on July 10 at Oakland International Airport. The JB was found on board UPS aircraft originating in Des Moines, IA. The same day, CDFA inspectors Andrew Mason and Paul Grazzini also found one dead female JB at Oakland International Airport. The JB was found on board UPS aircraft originating in Louisville, KY. Los Angeles County Burbank On July 8, CDFA inspector Heather Ramsey found one dead JB (sex not determined) at Burbank International Airport. The JB was found on board Federal Express aircraft originating in Memphis, TN. San Bernardino County Ontario CDFA Associate Entomologist Eugene Drake found one dead female JB on July 9 at Ontario International Airport. The JB was found on board Federal Express aircraft originating in Memphis, TN that arrived in Ontario via Indianapolis, IN. San Mateo County San Bruno Three dead female JB and two dead male JB were found on July 8 at San Francisco International Airport. CDFA inspector Laura Irons discovered the JB on board American Airlines aircraft originating in Chicago, IL. Two days later, CDFA inspector Robert Blackiston found one dead female JB aboard Delta Airlines aircraft, also at San Francisco International Airport. The flight originated in Atlanta, GA. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Fred G. Andrews made the determinations.
