Africanized Honey Bee (AHB) Los Angeles County Calabasas AHB was found on March 5, 1999, at a site along Park Ora in Calabasas. As a result of the find, the AHB colonized area(20 mile radii) in Los Angeles County and has extended into Ventura County. The new AHB colonized area is 35,770 square miles and includes all of Imperial County and San Berndardino Counties, and portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, and Ventura Counties. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Tom Eichlin confirmed the determination based on mtDNA analysis performed by Scott Kinnee. Prepared by: John Pozzi |
