Oriental Fruit Fly (OFF)
Contra Costa County
Concord
One adult male OFF was found on July 16 in a Jackson/methyl
eugenol trap by Contra Costa County Pest Detection Specialist
Vivian Cervantes. The trap was placed in a loquat tree along
Forestview Avenue.
The Jackson/methyl eugenol trap density in the area was two traps
per square mile. In response, Contra Costa County Department
of Agriculture will increase the Jackson/methyl eugenol and McPhail
trap densities to 25 traps per square mile in the core square
mile. The Jackson/methyl eugenol trap density in the remaining
80 square mile area will be raised to five traps per square mile.
CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
