Mediterranean Fruit Fly (Medfly) Marin County Novato On July 14, one sexually mature unmated female Mediterranean Fruit Fly was found in a Jackson/trimedlure trap by CDFA trapper Leo Zaro. The trap was placed in a plum tree at a residence along Via del Plano in Novato. The trap density was 5 Jackson/trimedlure traps at the time of the find. In response, CDFA will increase the trap density to 100 Champ/yellow panel traps in the core square mile. The Champ/yellow panel trap density will be 50 traps in the first buffer of eight square miles. Outside the first buffer, the trap density will be a 25-20-10 Jackson/trimedlure array. In addition, CDFA will increase the trap density to 25 McPhail traps in the core and 5 McPhail traps per square mile in the remaining 80 square mile area. CDFA will also conduct a door-to-door fruit survey within
200m of the find site.
