Mexican Fruit Fly (MxFF) Orange County Fountain Valley CDFA trapper Elias Moreno found one sexually mature, unmated female Mexican Fruit Fly on July 9 in a McPhail trap along Azalea Avenue. The trap was placed in an apricot tree. The trap density was five McPhail traps per square mile. In response, CDFA will increase the McPhail trap density to 80 traps per square mile in the core, and 40 traps per square mile in the surrounding eight square miles. CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
