Oriental Fruit Fly (OFF)

On July 8, one male OFF was found in a Jackson/methyl eugenol trap by CDFA trapper Jose Luis Hernandez at a residence along 9th Street in Buena Park. The trap was placed in an avocado tree.

The trap density was 25 Jackson/methyl eugenol and 25 McPhail traps in the core area. This is the second OFF found within a square mile area in Buena Park. In response, CDFA will begin an OFF eradication program in a 12-square-mile area around the finds.

CDFA Insect Biosystematist Kevin Hoffman made the determination.
